Starting a CERT Program

Interested in starting a CERT program in your community?

Interest in CERT is sparked in many ways. Sometimes existing organizations - civic associations, Neighborhood Watch groups, parent-teacher associations, faith-based organizations, business groups, etc. - will express an interest in expanding the group's mission to include the formation of a CERT Team. Municipal Emergency Management Coordinators and/or local Fire Departments should be contacted to help in the design of a CERT team. Existence of other community CERT Teams should also be determined.
